Social media played a large part in telling the story of a young woman betrayed by friends while on vacation. I remember how it felt reading and listening to the details of Shanquella Robinson's story when it first broke five months ago. As of yet, No one has been arrested for her death. There seems to be a mountain of evidence from video footage, witness statements, medical reports and the official autopsy report. Yet her family is still seeking justice!
Five months later, suspects speculatively identified by social media and still not a single arrest. At one point, a warrant was presented by the San Cabo authorities but no arrest and just one unnamed suspect. How long does it take the FBI to find someone? Some of the blunders in this case can be attributed to the overcompensation of social media. Cases of mistaken identity such as there being two Nazeer Wiggins in North Carolina. Time spent chasing the wrong leads, leads to prolonging the results of the case. Although credit must be given to the ability to identify and keep track of all involved.
The statement from the white house reflects the bureaucracy that one must face to get justice in America. The trail from one government agency to the next can be long and arduous. It is the current process and takes time to navigate.
If you are reading this article, then you are quite blessed to be here. Many who experience betrayal trauma have not lived to tell their story! Unlike Shanquella Robinson, the opportunity to heal or to give advice to the younger generations is still available. The idea that sharing a story of abuse is just because someone is bitter or unhealed is so unhealthy to the development of us all! If we overcome by the word of a testimony, then hearing from you just might save my life one day!
Living this life victorious is not only meant for a select group. In my opinion it is reflected in the lives of the people who are willing to see a social issue and do their part to make change. I speak more in depth regarding my own battle of betrayal trauma in the video linked below.
