Walking Alone

Updated: Mar 21, 2023

Are we taught to fear being alone? All of our social institutions (family, church, school, work, etc.) are designed to bring or keep people together. But there are times when being alone can be more beneficial to you, than a group setting. With the rise of awareness of sociopaths, narcissists and BPD types among us, many people are learning the hard way how to back out of situations they never agreed to be in.

Spending quality and self-care time alone is not the same as isolating yourself from everyone. Isolation causes you to shut everyone out, including healthy people who truly love and value your company. You want to focus on setting aside time for the things you enjoy. Remembering all of the things that make you who you are! Doing this will help you to balance your life and keep your emotions in check. It also helps you to remember who you are and that you are special enough to deserve time to yourself on yourself. Sounds a lot like knowing your boundaries, doesn't it?

Any length of time with a sociopath means that your world has revolved around them and only them with no thought or regards to your own feelings. Spending quality time with yourself brings you back to who you are. Don't be afraid of sounding selfish when you schedule "me time."

This is all to live life victoriously!
